Sign up for C-support

You can sign up for C-support if you are still suffering from corona symptoms three months after being infected. Those symptoms may vary. Some people mainly suffer from fatigue or are having difficulty concentrating. But many people also suffer physical symptoms like headache, muscle ache, pain in the joints and shortness of breath. Or are suffering from mental symptoms like anxiety and depression. We also see people struggling at work, because they are expected to return to work too soon. Or because they have been ill for one year or longer and are having financial problems due to their absence from work. We are looking at the impact of the symptoms you are suffering from. And do what is needed to improve your situation.

No, you cannot sign up for C-support if you have been infected with corona less than three months ago and are still suffering from corona symptoms today. C-support has been especially founded to help people that suffer from long-term corona symptoms. However, you can read our tips on how to deal with corona on this website. Most people recover within three months. Paramedical recovery care, such as physiotherapy, exercise therapy, occupational therapy, dietary therapy and speech therapy after a corona infection, can help recovery. Click here, for more information about paramedical recovery care.

Paramedical recovery care

Did you get infected after August 2020, but you didn’t get a referral or reimbursement, because you were too late in requesting paramedical recovery care? Or because you need more treatments than the standard number of treatments covered under the insurance?

Please contact us. One of our colleagues will contact you and assess the options. Your report will also help us improve the rules regarding paramedical recovery care. We are collecting all reports to be able to provide the National Healthcare Institute and other organizations with appropriate advice.

A temporary scheme has been set up for people who are suffering from long-term corona symptoms: the paramedical recovery care scheme. Under this scheme, paramedical recovery care is covered by your basic health insurance policy. You do however have to pay the deductible excess. This paramedical recovery care may consist of physiotherapy, exercise therapy, occupational therapy, dietary therapy and speech therapy. However, the scheme is subjected to a number of rules:

  • You need a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
  • You must request the referral within six months after the acute phase of the disease has passed. For example, did you suffer from fever and were you coughing during the first three weeks of illness? The six-month period will start after those first three weeks.
  • Did you get a referral? You need to make an appointment for recovery care within one month.
  • Recovery care will last for a maximum of six month. Sometimes you will receive additional recovery care.
  • You take part in medical research.

Go to the website of the National Healthcare Institute for more information about the recovery care scheme and the rules the scheme is subjected to (Dutch only).

No, we cannot help you with any (additional) physiotherapeutic treatments or other paramedical recovery care. We can only give you advise regarding the various options. You can only request a referral for paramedical recovery care from your GP or medical specialist. Contact your health insurance company for more information about the treatments. Please note! Paramedical recovery care is subjected to a number of rules. Go to the website of the National Healthcare Institute for more information (Dutch only).

our basic health insurance policy will cover speech therapy, 10 hours of occupational therapy and 3 hours of dietary advice. You do however have to pay the deductible excess. Did you (already) pay the annual maximum of your excess? Then your costs will be covered by your basic health insurance policy. Have you taken out supplementary health insurance for physiotherapy for example? Then your supplementary insurance will cover the costs for physiotherapy. Please contact your health insurance company with regards to the reimbursement you are entitled to under your health insurance policy.

Any additional recovery care treatments should start within four months after finishing the first six months of treatment. Otherwise, the results of the first six months of treatment lose their effect.

Are you still suffering from corona symptoms six months after you have started with paramedical recovery care? Consult your GP for additional recovery care. Your GP can usually write a letter of referral for you. In some cases, you need to request a referral for additional recovery care from a medical specialist.

Ask your GP or medical specialist if you are entitled to any additional recovery care. Do they refuse to give you a referral and have you been infected after August 2020? Please contact us.

(Healthcare) professionals

We are in contact with a number of academic hospitals regarding scientific research projects that are being conducted in these hospitals. Furthermore, our medical consultants will contact the doctors in the hospital if necessary. However, this is always done in consultation with the patient.

C-support doesn’t do any research. We do however take on an advisory role. We promote research into (the impact of) COVID-19. And assess research requests, for example for ZonMw.

Yes, that is possible. Please fill in the contact form. One of our medical consultants will contact you.

Patients can sign up for C-support via our website. They don’t need a referral. Patients who are still suffering from corona symptoms three months after being infected, can sign up. We will answer their questions regarding persistent symptoms or recovery care for example, and help them if they have problems at work.

Questions about vaccinations

C-support is following the advice given by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (in Dutch RIVM). The long-term corona symptoms you are suffering may (temporarily) improve or worsen due to the vaccination. It is however also possible that the corona symptoms remain the same after vaccination. Either way, the risks of another corona infection are much higher than the possible side effects of the vaccine. Tip! Try to get enough rest during the days before and after vaccination to ensure you do not overburden your body.

Always go to the website of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment for the most up-to-date information regarding vaccinations.

C-support is following the advice given by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (in Dutch RIVM). It is wise to get vaccinated if you suffer from long-term corona symptoms. One vaccination will be sufficient to ensure you are properly protected. You need two vaccinations if your immune system is not functioning properly, causing you to fall ill more easily. Your GP or someone from the Municipal Health Service (in Dutch GGD) will discuss this with you before you get vaccinated. Always go to the website of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment for the most up-to-date information regarding vaccinations.

C-support is following the advice given by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (in Dutch RIVM): it is wise to get vaccinated. Even if you already have been infected with corona. One vaccination will be sufficient to ensure you are properly protected. In some cases, you need two vaccinations:

  • If you are older than 80 years of age.
  • If your immune system doesn’t function properly, causing you to fall ill more easily
  • If you have been infected with corona, but haven’t been tested. As is the case for many people who got infected during the first wave of corona.

If it is less than four weeks ago since you had corona, it is wise to postpone your vaccination. Your GP or someone from the Municipal Health Service (in Dutch GGD) will discuss this with you. Go to the website of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment for more information.
